The Orangutan Project

In 1999, Perth primatologist Leif Cocks visited Borneo and Sumatra, home of the remaining wild orangutans. Realising that orangutans may be extinct within a decade, he formed The Orangutan Project (TOP) to build sanctuaries for orphans and protect forests with rangers.
TOP, a leading conservancy group, works with other reputable orangutan groups, employs Indonesian women to care for rescued orphans and ultimately, introduce them to the jungle. Indonesian students wanting to study Conservation, receive scholarships. Ultimately, with the help of WWF and Frankfurt Zoo, TOP aims to sustain a population of 8000 orangutans in the Thirty Hills Forest, Sumatra.
At the Environment Fair, Leif Cock’s book as well as soft orangutan toys, T-shirts and other bright merchandise will be sold.

Did you know that many people spray or kill caterpillars in the garden, not understanding that a butterfly transforms from a caterpillar.
No caterpillars; no butterflies. No food plants; no butterflies.
